A court in Congo-Brazzaville has sentenced the former mayor of the capital to five years in prison for corruption.
Christian Roger Okemba, who was elected Brazzaville’s mayor three years ago, was accused of transferring $2m (£1.6m) of public funds into a private bank account. His lawyer says he will appeal.
Okemba’s wife was given a three-year suspended sentence.
They must both pay a fine of $350,000 to the mayor’s office.
