Egypt and Switzerland discuss ways to expand the horizons of cooperation in tourism and antiquities

In the field of antiquities and tourism, Ahmed Issa, the minister of the Egyptian Antiquities and Tourism Ministry, met with the Ambassador of Switzerland in Cairo, Yvonne Baumann.

The meeting between the Egyptian and Swiss ambassadors started with the minister welcoming the ambassador. He noted the strong ties between the two countries.

They discussed the various indicators of the incoming tourist flow to Egypt from Switzerland and the ways to boost inbound tourism to the country.

The meeting discussed various topics related to the tourism industry, such as the establishment of training and capacity-building programs for workers in the sector, as well as enhancing cooperation in the areas of hotel building and hospitality. They also discussed the development of archaeological sites and the increasing efficiency of the tourism services provided in these areas.

The meeting discussed the collaboration between Egypt and Switzerland in the field of archaeology, particularly regarding the study of Egyptian mummies. This field is highly regarded by Swiss scientists.

Baumann noted Switzerland’s commitment to supporting Egypt’s efforts in recovering smuggled antiquities. It also noted the country’s readiness to help Cairo in the field of surreptitious excavations.
